Maxine and Michael were looking for the perfect wedding venue in Hampshire to hold their summer wedding with plenty of space for all their friends and family. They found their dream setting in Rivervale Barn.
"I found the venue online after plenty of research!" says Maxine. "We didn't want anything too far away from home as we have a lot of family who live locally. After putting my future husband and parents through a short slide show of Rivervale Barn, I had completely sold it to them! Michael and I visited a week later and I think we both knew it was the one as soon as we stepped in. The building and surrounding gardens are just beautiful and the wonderful staff are the cherry on top!"
Dressing The Venue
After hours spent scouring Instagram and Pinterest for wedding décor inspiration, Maxine had her heart set on incorporating paper lanterns into the day. She got her wish and decorated the Dining Barn with ivory, navy blue and blush pink lanterns hanging from fairy lights that were tied to the beautiful exposed beams. The couple didn't want their tables to be too crowded, so opted for square mirrored vases holding blush roses sat on top of a round mirror.
"Michael and his family are huge Arsenal fans, so all our tables were named after Arsenal players," explains Maxine. "Thankfully my husband is very good at designing and the table numbers and names he created were very tasteful and not at all how I thought they might have turned out!"
Looking The Part
Maxine looked incredible on the day and took full advantage of Rivervale Barn's Pamper Room to get ready with her mum and two bridesmaids before the ceremony. She chose a strapless A-line dress in satin, which was perfect for the couple's August wedding date. The dress featured a jewelled belt around the middle for an added bit of sparkle Maxine also wore a tiara and full-length veil. With a pair of stunning and sparkly Miss KG shoes, Maxine's amazing look was complete.
Michael and his groomsmen opted for sharp navy three-piece suits and combined them with tan shoes and blush pink ties and pocket squares. These worked wonderfully with the bridesmaid's dresses, with Maxine's two best friends wearing long blush chiffon dresses and had vines through their hair.
The Perfect Day
Maxine's day began at 9 am, arriving early to prepare in Rivervale Barn's fully-equipped Pamper Room. Michael and his groomsmen made a grand entrance, turning up in an Aston Martin, vintage Triumph Stag and a Porsche. After tying the knot in the breathtaking Ceremony Barn, the couple toasts their newlywed status in the charming courtyard. They then shared a mouth-watering wedding breakfast with their guests, lovingly created by the expert in-house catering team, Galloping Gourmet. After dancing the night away with their nearest and dearest, the happy couple retired to the luxurious Cornstore Cottage to spend their first night together as husband and wife.
Maxine and Michael loved every minute of their special day at Rivervale Barn but there was one moment that really stands out for the bride.
"Towards the end of the evening, me, my husband, and all our family and friends were on the dance floor. The DJ played Never Forget by Take That and everybody ended up in the middle of the dance floor. I remember looking around and thinking how lucky I was. It still gives me goose bumps now!"
