Sarah and Ben were looking for a special place to celebrate their wedding day that could provide a setting full of history and cater to the needs of all their guests. With a little help from their family, they found the ideal setting in Weston Park; a spectacular country house wedding venue in Shropshire.
"Sarah's Mum actually suggested Weston Park as Sarah had ideas for the wedding to be garden themed," explains Ben. "The Victorian Orangery was just perfect with the climbing plants up the walls and the very light and airy feel it had! As soon as we saw it, we just fell in love!"
Arriving in style
The happy couple were surrounded by their loved ones on their special day – and that included Ben's beloved Volkswagen Beetle!
"Betty the Beetle is something very close to Ben's heart and fitted in perfectly with our wedding theme," smiles Sarah. "Ben drove us from the church up to Weston Park himself which was so lovely and the bridesmaids arrived in an old VW camper van!"
Dressing the venue
Sarah and Ben were so blown away by the stunning beauty of Weston Park, that they didn't feel the need to go OTT with decorations. They did add a few things here and there to make the venue their own though.
"We had a hessian theme, which we used throughout different aspects of the day," says Sarah. "We made hessian hangover survival kits as favours for the men and white flip flops for the ladies for dancing! Our cake featured hessian decorations too as did the amazing table plan that Ben made himself. Weston Park's in-house florist made our centre pieces that matched my bouquet and looked great arranged around tall candelabras. We also made our own table names, named after different events from our life together, which meant they all had a personal story behind them."
Looking the part
Sarah looked beautiful on the big day, wearing a stunning dress that provided a vintage look on her wedding day.
"My dress was a Maggie Sottero gown which I immediately fell in love with," says Sarah. "It was slim fitting and lacy, and I also had lace sleeves made for it as wanted a long-sleeved dress."
Ben dressed to impress too, with a sharp navy suit paired with a tweed bow tie and waistcoat. Sarah's six bridesmaids looked incredible too, wearing pastel purple skirts and dusky pink tops from Coast that were just perfect for the autumn wedding date.
An amazing day
The newlyweds spent an unforgettable day at this breathtaking wedding venue in Shropshire, celebrating in the romantic Orangery and making full use of the exquisite grounds. They shared a mouth-watering wedding breakfast with their guests before taking the floor and holding their first dance to Annie's Song by John Denver. Their wedding was exactly what they wished it would be, and it couldn't have happened without the helpful team at the venue.
"The staff at Weston Park were so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble and the guest' rooms and bridal suite were breathtaking!" says Sarah.
Ben and Sarah wouldn't change a thing about their big day, and there were a couple of moments which really stood out.
"Sarah is known to enjoy a pint of ale which Sam, the best man, is also very fond of!" says Ben. "He had secretly ordered Sarah a pint of Enville Ale and presented this to her during the speech!"
"One of the most special moments was that my sister, Ellie, had written a speech on behalf of her dad, John, as his health meant he was unable to write it himself," says Sarah. "It was a beautiful speech and I don't think there was a dry eye in the room!"
