When it came to planning their perfect wedding, romance and vintage glamour were the top priorities for Sky and Lee. When they came across Cripps Barn, they found the perfect wedding venue in Gloucestershire to provide the wedding of their dreams.
"We stumbled across Cripps Barn by accident, but when we walked through the beautiful doors into the candle-lit barn, we knew it was for us. It had the perfect mix of rustic countryside, beautiful manicured gardens sitting next to glorious fields, and enchanting woodland. We thought it was the perfect location for a little bit of country glamour!"
A Vintage Celebration
To make this wonderful barn venue their own, the couple used Sky's passion for all things vintage as their decoration inspiration.
"The décor was heavily influenced by my dress and my love for the glamorous 1920's! Our theme was a mix of modern metallic shades, vintage beading, glitz and glamour, with navy brought in through the wedding party and crisp white flowers and flowing greenery to mimic our beautiful surroundings! We had the most amazing florist who really understood our theme and pulled off a glamorous vintage spectacular. They entwined gorgeous vintage beading, brooches and metallic colours into everything they touched.
Candelabras decorated with chains of pearls, cut glass tea light holders and pretty charger plates helped create the couple's chosen vintage theme through the tables and wedding breakfast too.
The Perfect Dress
Sky's dress would help set the tone for the whole day, and had a wonderful vintage style to it.
"My dress was a work of art," smiles Sky. "It was created by Anna Campbell and I was desperate to track down her beautiful Sierra Fit and Flare dress from her Spirit collection. It was the first dress I saw on Pinterest and I slowly became obsessed with her unique designs and incredible use of embellishment, silk and delicate lace. For me it was the perfect mix of vintage with a modern twist, sparkling with vintage jewels and a flowing train. I still can't pack it away, it's too beautiful to be in a box!"
Lee complemented Sky's look perfectly, with a deep blue Paul Smith suit, a silver Armani bowtie and a crisp white shirt. The bright sunshine even called for a dapper pair of aviator sunglasses to complete the look too.
To carry on the vintage vibe, the bridesmaids wore dresses that included similar elements to Sky's stunning gown.
"My bridesmaids looked amazing in flowing navy floor-length dresses with lace cap sleeves to match the lacing on my dress," explains Sky. "I wanted them to match each other, but also be unique, so I added different vintage brooches onto the waist of each dress and sparkling silver jewellery sets from David's Bridal."
Drinks In The Sun
The happy couple were lucky enough to have glorious sunshine when they tied the knot, which meant that the drinks reception was the perfect chance to enjoy the weather with their guests.
"We had drinks on the terrace of Cripps Barn, with a mixture of Prosecco, Kir Royal cocktails and beers on offer for our guests. There were mouth-watering canapés available too which tasted amazing! We had garden games for all to play with and our guests could explore the amazing grounds while we had a drive in our beautiful Roll Royce and had our pictures taken!"
Their guests were even treated to an amazing saxophonist playing jazz while they relaxed and mingled in the sun to make the day extra special.
An Unforgettable Wedding Breakfast
One of the biggest draws of Cripps Barn has to be their incredible wedding food and it was definitely one of the most enjoyable parts of the day for Sky and Lee.
"One of the main reasons that we choose Cripps Barn was for its hearty, locally sourced food. Everything is cooked on the huge barbecues outside!" explains Lee. "We started with country pâté and we opted for sirloin steaks with sweet potato and rocket salad for our main. We finished with the most amazing homemade chocolate brownie with ice cream… everyone was quick to hit the dancefloor to burn it all off!"
A Lifetime Of Memories
Sky and Lee's special day was absolutely perfect for them and a great time was had by all at this wonderful wedding venue. There were a couple of moments that stood out a little bit more than others however.
"My favourite moment was walking down the aisle," smiles Sky. "It just felt so surreal and magical; I couldn't believe it was happening!"
"Our amazing photographer also surprised us at the end of the evening by wrapping hundreds of fairy lights around the canopy where the outdoor ceremony could have taken place," says Lee. We managed to get some incredible shots at the end of the night and it was great to pull us away from the madness of the party and grab a quiet moment together. We don't know when or how he managed to take the time to create it!"
