Victoria and Jamie wanted nothing more than a fun and fabulous wedding day, to enjoy with their nearest and dearest. Fantastic food was also high on their list of priorities. They dreamed of a delicious spring feast to satisfy all their guests.
With all their wedding wishes in mind, Victoria and Jamie began the hunt for the perfect venue. It wasn’t long before the pair came across Upwaltham Barns, a relaxed and picturesque venue for their special day. “We loved the Barns but it was the people that ran it that made the venue extra special,” explains Victoria. “Nicky and Tim, the owners, were fantastic, and our wedding coordinator was an absolute gem,” she smiles.
Just for fun
The pair loved the rustic, enchanting vibe of the barns and decided to add just a little décor to show off their personalities. “We didn’t have to do much at all,” says Victoria. The couple styled the space with pink and grey vintage décor and added a few quirky touches for entertainment purposes too. “Instead of favours, we had pots full of old school toys and card games, so guests could have a bit of fun while waiting for their food,” explains Victoria. The two also created a unique guestbook, which combined a polaroid camera for photographs and wooden hearts for guests to write on. “Once guests had written their messages, they could pop them in our pre-made frame,” explains Victoria. “It was a lovely keepsake.”
When it came to their attire, the couple chose outfits that reflected their personal style. Victoria dressed in a stylish mermaid gown embellished with tiny sequins while Jamie opted for Ted Baker suit and paisley accessories. “The dress was amazing but Vicki made it look even better,” smiles Jamie.
Waiting for love
Victoria and Jamie had an amusing start to their wedding day thanks to a little miscommunication with the registrar. “I was waiting for the registrar upstairs and she was waiting for me downstairs,” laughs Vicki. “We were both waiting for 30 minutes without realising – so there was a little panic setting in!”
Despite the morning’s mishap, the ceremony ran as planned and it wasn’t long before the pair were announced husband and wife. A sociable drinks reception followed, with the pair laughing about the morning’s events with family and friends while tucking into canapés and cocktails. However, the couple were careful to ensure they left room for the feast that was to follow – a delicious hog roast. “The hog roast was such a good idea,” says Victoria. “It was served to the table on platters and everyone loved it,” she smiles.
Turn back time
The evening’s celebrations saw the newlyweds and their guest enjoy all the usual traditions. Guests were dancing, party revellers drinking and Victoria and Jamie even managed to steal a few moments to themselves. “The day would have been even better with more time. It went far too quickly,” says Victoria.
