“Planning your spring wedding flowers is easy,” says Jay Archer. “There’s so much choice! I always think of spring as the most scented season and soft, pretty colour palettes work best – pale blues, lavenders, blush and white with fresh spring green.”

“Spring wedding flowers are lovely because they are a real contrast to the look and colours of winter,” says Joanna Carter. “The colours are so fresh and hint that summer and sunshine are on the way.”

Spring Wedding Flowers

Using seasonal flowers is always a good idea, for your budget and for the look of your wedding. Here’s what’s available for your spring wedding:

  • March: anemones, hellebores, hyacinths, muscari, narcissi, tulips and the first English sweet peas and blossoms. Possibly lilacs, fritillaries, guelder rose and iris.
  • April: anemones, English sweet peas, fritillaries, guelder rose, hyacinths, hydrangeas, iris, lilacs, lily of the valley, muscari, narcissi, ranunculus, tulips, wisteria and budding catkins and blossom.
  • May: anemones, English sweet peas, hyacinths, hydrangeas, lilacs, lily of the valley, narcissi, peonies, ranunculus, tulips, sweet Williams and the first scented stocks

Of course, that’s not all. Your florist will be able to source roses, orchids, lilies, carnations and more all year round.

Spring Bouquets & Buttonholes

Bridal bouquets and buttonholes for the wedding party look amazing with seasonal flowers. Here are a few spring wedding ideas from Joanna Carter:

“Tulips are fabulous because of the variety they offer. Parrot tulips are lovely and fulsome, French tulips have super long stems and there are the frilly varieties too. Tulips add a lovely wayward touch as they keep growing after they’ve been cut. They’re great for brides who want a wild look.”

“Ranunculus are like mini peonies and they’re delicate and intricate with multiple layers of petals. Narcissi and hyacinths both add wonderful scents to your bouquets and buttonholes.”

“Anemones, with their deep black centres, come in pinks, whites and yellows as well as hot orange and red. They look great in bridal bouquets. Spring is also the season for lily of the valley. It’s delicate, highly scented and beautiful making gorgeous bouquets.”

Floral Decorations For Spring

Jay Archer loves seasonal flowers and her ideas for spring weddings are fantastic:

“In terms of arrangements, big glass vases of twisted willow with budding catkins and huge branches of apple blossoms are a treat. They’re seasonal, not flower heavy and will be quite cost effective too.”

“If budget isn’t an issue, table centres of cloni ranunculus, peonies and trailing jasmine will be beyond romantic.”
