If there is one thing that our wedding venue specialists love its planning perfect celebrations at some of our beautiful venues. With an eye on the latest trends and a passion for all things wedding-related, we spoke to Charlotte about how she would create her dream day at a breathtaking setting on the Cheshire and Shropshire border. Make sure you check out Charlotte’s Pinterest board to see all of her inspiration and some enchanting photos of her favourite venue!
As the setting for her day, Charlotte picked a magical country house wedding venue called Combermere Abbey. Easily reached from Cheshire and Shropshire, it offers a stunning escape to the country and a one-of-a-kind place to tie the knot.
“Combermere Abbey is my favourite wedding venue! It is totally unique and has a wonderful vibe from the moment you arrive into the grounds. You are instantly surrounded by beautiful countryside and ancient woodlands. There is a passionate team waiting to take care of your every need and what’s more, it’s exclusively yours to enjoy as you wish.”
“I love the idea of a relaxed, boho day and just know that this would work perfectly at Combermere Abbey with its beautiful gardens and quirky surroundings. For me, a late summer wedding would make the most of the abundance of blooming flowers and also showcase the incredible fruit tree maze in all its glory!”
“The Glasshouse in the Walled Gardens sits at the centre of the maze and is perfect for your ceremony. Just another quirky touch that makes this wedding venue feel so special and different to any others.”
The Colour Scheme
Charlotte wanted to make sure that the natural beauty of Combermere Abbey takes centre stage, so would keep her colours and decorations relatively low-key.
“I imagine my colour scheme to be quite neutral but with the odd shock of teal and copper to keep it interesting. I think this would look great with on-trend decorations like succulents, huge white balloons and fairy lights wrapped around trees.”

“The garden itself would provide plenty of background colour and is perfect for photo opportunities. I would make sure to use the mere and capture some wonderful lakeside shots with the abbey in the background.”
To work with the venue’s wealth of flowering gardens and foliage, Charlotte thinks a simple and natural look would be her choice.
“My dress would be simple but pretty. It would be antique white lace with half sleeves and floor-length with a slight train. I would prefer to have flowers in my hair more than a tiara or anything too glitzy.”

“The groom would need to be particularly suave. A dapper suit in blue or teal with a crisp white shirt, a fitted waistcoat and tan brogue boots would be perfect Either a tie or bow tie will work fine and a succulent button hole would tie in with the decorations nicely.”

“I don’t mind if my bridesmaids aren’t all in the same dress, so long as they are either in neutral or light teal and are a similar style. I would want them to feel comfortable and I think a more relaxed style would fit the theme of the day at Combermere Abbey better. Floral crown featuring succulents would be perfect for a boho look.”
The Food and Drink
The Pavilion at this stunning venue is the ideal setting for a wedding breakfast and reception to remember. It’s a great blank canvas too so you can incorporate any colour scheme and theme you wish.
“I would decorate the tables with small succulent centrepieces and tealights and give the place a rustic feel. Combermere Abbey offers a choice of caterers so you’ll have plenty of choice and flexibility to help you pick a mouth-watering menu.”
“I would definitely have a band and I love the idea of a bluegrass group playing before the wedding breakfast in the gardens. It would be plenty of fun and set a relaxing tone for the day. The Pavilion has plenty of space for dancing the night away with friends and family too!”
