When they're not helping you find the ideal place to hold your special day, our wedding venue specialists love staying up-to-date with the latest trends and ideas. We thought it would be great to speak to them about how they would plan the perfect wedding at one of our beautiful venues.
This time, we spoke to Julia to see how she would create an amazing day at Pentney Abbey, a spectacular wedding venue in Norfolk. To see all of her inspiration, make sure you check out Julia's Pinterest board.

The Venue
Julia chose a venue that was full of grandeur and traditional style. With its one-of-a-kind ceremony setting, Pentney Abbey is certainly one of the most impressive around.

"Pentney Abbey is my favourite wedding venue. It is totally unique, in a tranquil location and surrounded by beautiful countryside. The venue has an almost medieval feel with the incredible Gatehouse and Barn."

The Theme
To combine the rich history and idyllic, rural setting, Julia decided on a theme that would suit Pentney Abbey perfectly.
"I love the idea of a relaxed, boho/medieval style day. A winter wedding would be lovely with lots of fairy lights and candles decorating every aspect of the venue. I would definitely have a ceremony on-site in the Gatehouse because I love the castle-like features and winding staircase. It feels very intimate and romantic."

The Colour Scheme
To continue the feeling of grandeur throughout the colour scheme, Julia opted for a classic combination that exudes elegance and sophistication.
I would go quite neutral with the colour scheme and use plenty of creams and greens. Lots of wildflowers would be used to decorate the venue which would fit in with a relaxed wedding. These would be in the centrepieces at the wedding breakfast, with tall candelabras to keep in line with the medieval feel. Finally, fairy lights would create a warm and enchanting look that would be perfect for winter.

The Look
With an emphasis on a laid-back day, Julia would make sure the relaxed feel was carried on through the outfits too.
"My dress would be cream in colour, long and flowing, not too fussy. I think I'd want some flowers in hair too which would look great with the decorations and Pentney Abbey's rural setting."

I'd like my groom to be wearing a three-piece suit, either navy or grey as a less serious alternative to black. A green buttonhole would tie in with the colour scheme too.

The Bridesmaids
Picking the right bridesmaid dresses will make sure your nearest and dearest are even happier on your big day, and Julia would make sure that their outfits complemented hers too.
"I would like my two bridesmaids in neutral or light teal and wearing dresses which are a similar style. Nothing too formal looking and possibly a shorter length to contrast my long dress. They will have flowers similar to my bouquet with lots of greenery and creams."

The Food and Drink
The perfect way to follow up a beautiful wedding ceremony is with the most amazing food and drink, and Pentney Abbey has certainly got that covered!
After an unforgettable ceremony, mouth-watering wedding food is the perfect way to celebrate, and this beautiful venue has plenty of options to impress.

"The in-house caterers at Pentney Abbey offer a barbecue option and I think it would be ideal for a laid-back day. Also, with banquet-style seating in The Barn and plenty of meat on offer, it would tie in perfectly with the Medieval history of the venue. I'd want to get creative with the drinks options, such as beer barrels, gin stations or a Prosecco table which would be fun and interactive for my guests to enjoy."

The Entertainment
Pentney Abbey is just the place for a memorable party and Julia would take full advantage of what the venue has to offer.
"There is lots of outdoor space to enjoy so lawn games would be a fun option in spring and summer. You can still celebrate outdoors in the colder months though as the fire pit on the patio will certainly keep you warm!"

"Music is key for a proper celebration in my eyes, and I'd kick things off with an acoustic duo as day turns into evening. At night, I'd make sure that a DJ got everybody up and dancing in The Barn!"
