A Country Retreat
Despite visiting lots of country house venues, Jade and Matt's search for their perfect Cheshire wedding venue still wasn't complete.
"We wanted exclusivity and a venue away from the city," Jade explains, "but things like the colour of the carpet at various venues kept putting me off. Sandhole Oak Barn was the last venue we visited and we both knew instantly it was the one."
You could say it was even meant to be. "Matt proposed to me at sunset in Ibiza. While looking round Sandhole, the sun started to set over the lake. I couldn't stop smiling, it was perfect!"
Jade looked incredible in a Stella York gown, purchased from Swan Brides in Congleton.
"I loved the low back of the design but was worried about the lace. The seamstress helped me to remove some lace to reveal the tulle, create a sweetheart neckline and drop the sleeves to be off the shoulder."
A Benjamin Roberts belt and Jimmy Choo heels completed her style.
Aiming to create a distinctive look, Matt sourced his outfit from ASOS, House of Fraser and Aldo, teaming a grey suit with a tartan waistcoat.
A religious ceremony was key for this couple. Fortunately, their Cheshire wedding venue has a pretty church just seconds away.
"We got ready in the gorgeous dressing room at Sandhole Oak Barn. It was great to be on site and see our guests arrive at the church."
Going for Gold
Shaking up the popular rustic approach to decorating a barn wedding, Jade and Matt injected a punch of personality with modern gold details.
"We opted for gold decorations, white blooms and lots of acrylic touches, including our table plan."
Behind the top table, the couple styled a stunning tulle backdrop, decorated with eucalyptus and the name of their wedding song - John Legend's 'You and I'.
Gold chiavari chairs, a gold mirror dance floor and white seat cushions completed the glamorous look at this Cheshire wedding venue.
Inspired by their Ibizan engagement, Jade and Matt designed a tapas-style menu with their caterers.
"We thought it would be nice to have a sociable, sharing-style meal to help guests who didn't know each other to start conversations. Because Matt is also renowned for not sharing his food with anyone but me, it became another nice personal touch!"
"The events team were incredible, they were so professional and helpful. When the tapas was presented to tables, one guest mentioned that they were vegetarian so wouldn't have any meat balls. The next thing she knew, the waitress returned with halloumi instead. It was so thoughtful and the dish was amazing."
Making the most of this wedding venue in Cheshire's character features, Jade and Matt entwined fairy lights and rose garlands around the timber beams.
"We chose a combination of tall blossom trees surrounded by candles and lower arrangements of white blooms on a gold mirror base for our table centres." The effect was glamorous, romantic and stylish.
Despite having to delay the ceremony to track down a missing pair of trousers for the best man, for Jade and Matt the moment they exchanged vows was the best bit of the day.
"Saying our vows and standing holding hands at the altar, realising this was it, was really special. In the evening, our friends lifted us onto their shoulders while we were dancing. It was an amazing moment and we didn't stop smiling all day."
Words of Wisdom
"Above all, trust other people to do things on the day and delegate. On our wedding morning I was busy setting up our table plan until my bridesmaids put their feet down and told me to leave it to our planner, TopTable. They did a brilliant job and made me feel at ease."
