With a late September wedding date in mind, Danielle and Chris were looking for their dream wedding venue in Shropshire. They arrived at Davenport House and loved everything about it, from the décor to the views, the Drawing Room and the fact that they could celebrate their entire day under one roof.
“It was dressed beautifully,” says Danielle. “This attention to detail made us choose Davenport House.”
Design and Décor
The happy couple chose a classic, romantic theme with a heady mix of gold, ivory, purple and dusky rose pink. Lanterns with pillar candles lined the front steps at Davenport House while tea lights lined the grand staircase inside.
Gold candelabra with ivory and pink roses and cream candlesticks made striking table centrepieces.
“I made the menu holders from Champagne corks and the place names were handmade in wood and sprayed gold,” explains Danielle. “The urns were dressed with roses and foliage and the fireplaces with pillar candles and foliage.”
The beautiful bride wore an elegant lace gown by Stella York.
“When I tried it on, I could tell it was just perfect,” she smiles. “The lace was pretty and I customised the shoulders so they fell slightly off.”
Danielle accessorised with jewellery from Tiffany & Co, Jimmy Choo shoos and a bespoke floral crown.
Chris looked the part in a designer suit and wore the wedding band that had been his fathers.
Finally, the bridesmaids were stunning in dresses from Little Mistress, the perfect colour and style to match lace on Danielle’s wedding dress.
Order of The Day
Following the romantic ceremony at Davenport House, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed welcome drinks and delicious canapés. Music played an important role in the day with a string quartet delighting guests during the ceremony and drinks reception.
Moving in to the Drawing Room, the wedding breakfast commenced with a smoked bacon Scotch egg, moving on to a main course of beef served two ways and, for pudding, a trio of desserts.
“The main course was incredible,” smiles Danielle. “It was the best food we’ve eaten, especially at a wedding and all our guests agreed.”
Danielle and Chris took to the dance floor for their first dance to ‘How Long Will I Love You’ by Ellie Goulding.
“Our first dance was played by the DJ and then we hired some friends of mine who play in a band called Fruitmachine,” says Danielle. “I’ve known them for about 15 years.”
When it came to evening dining, wood fired pizza was cooked outside, offering a choice of toppings – the perfect finale to a fabulous day.
“The Events Team helped so much,” says Danielle. “I never once felt stressed about the planning considering we did it all in nine months!”
“My entrance – greeting my mum at the bottom of the stairs, seeing all my friends and family and, most importantly, seeing my husband looking back at me as I walked towards him. I’ll treasure that look on his face forever.”
Advice from the Bride
“Use Pinterest a lot. Save pictures and decide your theme, ideas and colours. When you find your venue, you can start to imagine how it will look.”
