“The gardens really sold Bartholomew Barn to us. We visited the barn 11 months prior to our wedding day so could see how the gardens in full bloom would look on the day. We also loved the fact that this place was truly rural, surrounded by fields. We had our heart set on an intimate garden party feel to our day with live music, good food, good wine and an opportunity to give parents the night off from little ones! We wanted to make sure that we could spend time with all our guests too, so we kept the numbers under 50.” – Nicky
“Bartholomew Barn is absolutely beautiful the way it is, so we didn’t want to add too much decoration to it. We only really wanted flowers, so we had pretty table displays, two candelabras with candle and flowers framing the doorway where we held our ceremony and small bunches ties to each of the aisle seats. Our florist was so lovely and understanding, she listened to all our preferences and took on board the colour scheme and our preferences. The finished product looked and smelled magnificent!” – Nicky
“My dress was by Stella York and it had a slight hint of pink to it and an overlay of lace detail. I loved the unusual cut-out back and simple pale pink ribbon that trailed down the back of the dress. I loved that it was an absolute bargain too as it was an end of season line and was only £299! Alex and his groomsmen looked the part in dark navy dress suits with grey waistcoats.” - Nicky
“I got ready at my family home not far from the venue before heading to Bartholomew Barn for the ceremony and reception. After we had exchanged our vows, we had drinks and canapés in the pretty walled courtyard while an acoustic duo played. Music played a big part of our day and from the first dance onwards we had a five-piece band. Having live music made it for us and it was amazing that so many people were on the dancefloor.” – Nicky
“Our wedding day was absolutely perfect and we genuinely have no regrets and wouldn’t change a thing. I think the highlight for me had to be when our puppy Sam made her entrance at the evening reception. It meant so much to me that we could have her with us on the day. If I could give any advice to couples who are planning their wedding, it would be to be organised. Put any balance due dates in your diary so you won’t be shocked when all the emails start coming in.” – Nicky
