Embracing romantic, rustic style, Sarah and Jonathan celebrated their wedding at Bassmead Manor Barns. With a delicate colour scheme, fabulous food and entertainment and personalised details, it was a day filled with fun and laughter.
With an October wedding date in mind, Sarah and Jonathan were on the hunt for a rustic barn wedding venue within two hours of their home. Narrowing down their online search to six possible venues, they knew Bassmead Manor Barns was ‘the one’ as soon as they arrived for their visit.
“It was like the picture I’d had in my head of the perfect venue!” smiles Sarah. “The long drive, the trees, the beams, the décor, the gardens… I was so taken with it, I cried.”
Design and Décor
To complement the venue, the happy couple chose a rustic theme.
Focusing on a colour scheme of pale pink, white and rose gold, flowers were a key element of the day. Additional details such as the beautiful signage, table numbers and table plan were made by a talented friend of Sarah’s using card, wood and white ink. Finally, family photographs added personalisation to this happy day.
“Olive Events created a donut wall which we had instead of cake,” explains Sarah, “and our DJ provided LOVE lights, fairy lights for the bridge, exterior lighting and a rustic DJ booth.”
The beautiful bride wore a Pronovias gown from Rachel Ash Bridalwear.
“After months of looking online, I realised that my Pinterest board was filled with Pronovias dresses,” smiles Sarah. “I tried on 12 dresses but by dress three, I’d fallen in love! The fit, the style, the material, the train… it was just perfect.”
She completed the look with elegant jewellery and shoes from ASOS.
Meanwhile, Jonathan looked the part in a Ted Baker suit with bow tie and braces. And finally, the bridesmaids were stunning in dresses from Little Mistress while the flower girls wore pretty dresses and flower garlands in their hair.
Order of The Day
Following their romantic ceremony in the Rickety Barn, welcome drinks and canapés were served in the bar while singer, Cara Beard, entertained the newlyweds and their guests.
Moving in to dine, an incredible smoked bacon Scotch egg was served to start followed by expertly-cooked steak and a delicate lemon tart.
“They were our favourite dishes from the Tasting Event,” says Sarah.
After the sun went down, the newlyweds danced their first dance to ‘This Will Be’ by Natalie Cole and Strobe Disco filled the dance floor.
Chicken wraps were cooked in the outdoor kitchen and proved very popular with guests – the perfect finale to a truly fabulous day.
“The vows were definitely the standout moment for me. It was the part that I’d waited for for so long, in front of our favourite people. It still gives me butterflies when I think of it now.”
Advice from the Bride
“Don’t stress about the small stuff. Remember that the day is all about you becoming husband and wife and that’s all that matters.”
