Hayley and Ben had their hearts set on a beautiful barn wedding. A quirky and cute celebration was desired, and Bassmead Manor Barns in Staploe was more than suitable. It didn’t take long for things to fall neatly into place thereafter.
“The ceremony barn is absolutely stunning, and it really just had the wow factor. It was exclusive and very private for guests, which was a great bonus!” – Hayley
A rustic theme was at the core of their Cambridgeshire wedding, setting the delightful tone with the cosy décor. From the jars filled with fresh flowers to the wicker hearts upon every chair, all were charmed by the elegant and graceful display around them.
“We had different jars filled with fairy lights, and we had some for the bridge at Bassmead Manor Barns too! We had large ‘LOVE’ letters that lit up in the ceremony barn, and we scattered petals down the aisle.” - Hayley
The floral arrangements had to not only be perfectly pretty, but meaningful too. Hot pink gerberas (Hayley’s favourite), gypsophila, and white lisianthus were all on show here in unique, expressive ways. The flowers brought everyone together, and a strong sense of unity and togetherness soon followed.
“The Bridesmaids all had smaller versions of the bride’s bouquet. The flower girl had a wicker heart with gypsophila intertwined, made by the bride’s mum. The groom and groomsmen all had a pink gerbera. My bouquet had two pictures in heart frames of my late grandparents attached.” – Hayley
Every bride has a flawless dress in mind, and Hayley was no exception. After a long period spent searching for a wedding dress with pockets, things began to look bleak. However, eventually her picture-perfect dress was secured for her barn wedding!
“The dress took a long time to find. I was starting to get upset, but then I found the perfect ball gown style dress, with Mikado satin skirts and a long train. The pockets were my favourite though!” – Hayley
The wonderful ceremony was held in Bassmead Manor Barn’s Rickety Barn. After a poignant reading of the usual vows, Hayley and Ben decided that some spontaneity would add a special flare to their big day.
“We had the usual vows, but then we both wrote our own as well. Then we had two readings, the first entitled ‘On Your Wedding Day’ read by my best friend Nathan. The second was called ‘Here’s to Right Now’, read by Ben’s brother, Harvey. The atmosphere was really relaxed, but just full of love.” – Hayley
Exquisite cuisine was warmly served to all. Pate, goats cheese tarts, chicken in a red wine jus and freshly cooked pizzas from the wood burning stove were all up for grabs. Delicious sticky toffee pudding and brownies were for dessert, upstaged only by a whole table reserved entirely for scrumptious sweets!
“We had so many compliments on the food! We loved all of it, and it’s impossible to choose a stand-out dish!”
Hayley readily remembered her favourite moment from the big day. It came when she realised that her dreams had become reality. Everything was just as it should be.
“The speeches were great, and the first dance was so incredibly special, but seeing each other at the alter was perfect – exactly how we always imagined.” - Hayley
