Filled with ambition for their big day, Kim and Glen were itching to find their perfect venue for a lively three-day celebration. First, though, they'd need the ideal place to make their dreams possible.
"In the day, we wanted a very relaxed, romantic atmosphere. In the evening, we wanted a big party. Luckily, Manor Mews had everything we needed and more; the open brickwork, the cladding, the high ceilings – all of it was beautiful. The moment myself and Glen left, we both looked at each other and knew it was the one." – Kim
A floral theme was essential from the start, and Kim collaborated closely with some truly fabulous florists. Though everything was meticulously planned and arranged, no one was quite prepared for the enchanting results that would follow.
"We had blush Dahlia Cafe Au ait's, white astilbes, white sweet peas, carnations, wax flowers, astrantia and even a rose called 'Bridesmaid', which was very fitting. I had many of the amazing flowers chosen months before the wedding, arranging for them to feature on the wedding invitations… and select stationery too!" – Kim
Flowers were very present in the décor of their barn wedding too, so much so that the table plan was made by the florist! All tables had a mixture of short and tall centrepieces too, featuring cascading plants and smaller herbs. Still, Kim and Glen's desires took them beyond the floral arrangements alone!
"We had a six-foot hexagon frame built to create a pretty backdrop as we got married. After adding in some candles, we managed to create a romantic and intimate atmosphere." – Kim
Kim's search for the perfect dress was more challenging. After visiting four shops, she was still not satisfied that she had found what she had always dreamt off. Just as her hopes began to dwindle, things magically turned around. It was meant to be!
"My dress was by Adella Bridal, and I loved everything about it. A low back, a unique pattern, and the straps and train all contributed to making it flawless." – Kim
Kim and Glen's wedding was focused on fun, family and friendship. Consequently, a short and sweet ceremony was ideal for them, as they were eager to get back and celebrate with all their guests!
"Glen and I didn't really want the ceremony at Manor Mews to go on too long. All we wanted was to get married and celebrate with our loved ones. We would rather be amongst our friends and family." – Kim
Kim and Glen had contrasting music tastes, but like all those in loving relationships, they found a way to make things work! Glen took the reins here and made sure that when the time came to hit the dancefloor, everyone was happy.
"He played the perfect mix for us. The dancefloor was full all night, which is exactly what we wanted. The music went from Rammstein, to Drake, to McFly. A lot of people commented on the music choice, and said it wasn't your average music for a barn wedding!" – Kim
As the tender moments of the first dance came to a fitting end, Kim's favourite moment came to be. The newlywed's closest friends and family gathered near and huddled together, and the new bride felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
"I had tears thinking how lucky we are to have each other; a great bunch of friends, and a wonderful family. Everyone always says that you need to stand back and take everything in. That was the moment I did so, and I was overcome with emotion." – Kim
